When skin color matters 1

It's probably a desperate decision to move to China, but the way I look at how the economy is going in the US, I am guessing that everyone have to think twice. The gas prices soared up, now at more than $4.00 a gallon in major cities. And the trend is the same in the past 3 years, when gas prices go up then the rest of the commodities go up as well.

I watched the second presidential debate last night, and if I would be one of the voters, up to now I would still be one of the undecided. There were a lot of blah, blah and blah from both candidates . Not one of them was actually hitting the point. Well, at least they mentioned something about immigration but not in the details that I want. They talked a little bit about education but both of their ideas were vague. It's like indirectly saying it is the least of their priorities.

I went to this website  http://www.seriousteachers.com/ to register to view some jobs in China. In fact I like the website and hopeful that I could get an offer from one of the schools in Asia. While navigating the website, I stumbled on their forum and one of the discussions was coming from this lady, who tried to apply as an ESL teacher but have been rejected several times because the school only hires "native English speaker". She got great qualifications, and have taken and passed the required examinations but still her applications were rejected.  I find this system of job hiring to be ridiculously absurd and discriminatory. And I know that they knew that this is a wrong practice of the hiring schools and it is obvious they only use the white people to market their school. Because the more white people in an international school, the more it would look "international", and more wealthy families will enroll their children in the system. This practice is a form of racism in the job and is unacceptable. Even if the reason is the one I stated above "For the school to look and sound - international" or  "diverse". They should not reject a person who is highly qualified, with relevant degree, and experience and proven record of success in the classroom, all because he/she is not a native English speaker or not white. Period.
